Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum
Throughout his life, Dr Sun Yat-sen travelled the world to seek support for the revolutionary cause. His first wife, Lu Muzhen, therefore took it upon herself to look after the family. Keeping a low profile and not keen to socialising, Madam Lu paid little attention to fame and fortune, and shunned the limelight.
Showcasing around 50 artefacts from the Museum's collection, this exhibition will give visitors' a deeper understanding of the people close to Dr Sun Yat-sen. The exhibits reveal that Madam Lu was a typical Chinese wife and mother, whose life centred on her family and who seldom got involved in Dr Sun's political activities. Perhaps it was precisely because of her virtues, her low profile and seemingly ordinary personality that her husband was able to pursue the revolutionary cause without having to worry constantly about his family. Exhibits include photographs of Lu Muzhen and her family members, Lu's name card, the embroidered purses made for her daughter Sun Wan, the porcelain bowls ordered by her son Sun Fo for her 70th birthday, and the letters between Lu and the family members, etc.
